Description

Alland and Built collaborate to support the NCIE

National Centre of Indigenous Excellence is built on the land of the Gadigal people of the Eora Nation in Redfern, Sydney, on the site of the former Redfern Public School.

The school closed in 2002 and in 2006 large scale development of the site began – including restoring the heritage-listed buildings and constructing a purpose-built fitness centre  – to become the National Centre of Indigenous Excellence.

As a vital part of the Redfern community, NCIE facilitates positive transformative training and employment programs, and provides fitness, aquatics, conference, catering, and group accommodation services for community, corporate, and government members and clients.

Alland Group had the privilege of working with Built on this respected and important space in late 2019, completing a full design and construct refurbishment of offices that included new power and lighting installations, emergency lighting and all communications and data requirements.

At the completion of the works Alland were honoured to attend a smoking ceremony held at the site, where the smoke created from gum trees cleansed and prepared the office for the move.

Alland enjoyed being a part of this transformation and wish that the NCIE continues to be an important source of growth and inspiration for generations to come.
